Taskmaster Resources is recruiting on behalf of our client, Harrogate Integrated Facilities (HIF), for the position of Estates Officer – Electrical & Energy.
This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior technical leadership role supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant engineering services within a healthcare environment. You will join a committed team that maintains and manages essential electrical and energy infrastructure across Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the maintenance and operation of electrical engineering services, including LV systems, UPS, theatre systems, lifts, lighting, and power.
- Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for low voltage systems and at least two additional engineering systems (e.g. medical gas, ventilation, water, decontamination).
- Oversee energy usage and utility costs, working with consultants to provide data and assurance on energy performance.
- Support the Compliance and Mechanical Services Manager in planning, reporting, and contract management.
- Line manage a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, including apprentices and contractors.
- Ensure all engineering systems meet statutory, regulatory and best practice standards (e.g. HTMs, HBNs, BS7671).
- Participate in risk management, engineering investigations, project delivery, and operational escalation.
- Provide data reports, manage budgets up to £5,000, and support business cases and capital works planning.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree or HNC in Building Services, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Completed an appropriate engineering apprenticeship.
- Authorised Person certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
- Experience managing maintenance in a hospital or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and maintenance risk controls.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Degree in Building Services Engineering.
- NEBOSH/IOSH or other Health & Safety qualifications.
- IEng or IHEEM membership.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and HTM standards.
