TM Resourcing (Technical & Engineering Division) are currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician on behalf of our clients in Sherburn-in-Elmet.
Our client are a long standing manufacturing organisation specialising in Bus design and manufacturing.
The job
As an Electrical Technician you will work within a continuous assembly process with the ability to work with all tools and machinery required for the job. As a key member of the production team you will have the ability to be able to communicate well across all key internal functions.
To ensure that all electrical work is compliant, completed within electrical regulations, to the required quality standard and to ensure that the production process continues to flow efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in a process improvement activity. Support with the collation of Standard Operating Procedures based on best practice, electrical compliance and drive improvements.
Ensure health and safety requirements are met and provide advice on Electrical Regulations.
Highlight any quality issues and support problem solving activity with Production, Production Engineering and Design Engineering.
To learn and carry out a range of jobs within manufacturing, to assemble a wide variety of components within a vehicle.
To read electrical and engineering drawings and layouts.
To assess electrical problems, have the ability to diagnose faults, isolate the issue and solve it, or support the Design Engineering team/ External Electrical Expert (i.e. Suppliers) in its resolution.
To look at electrical grids, evaluate problems. And make sure correct installation.
Demonstrate good manual dexterity. Determine size and capacity of wires and cables; use of hand tools and handle small components.
Check and calibrate instruments to ensure accuracy and complete the necessary paperwork.
Sign off and test any in-house electrical installations. To include portable appliances.
Provide technical advice, support and deliver training for the Electrical and Production Operatives when required
Mentor and train Body, Mechanical and Electrical Apprentices in electrical work.
Keep the Production Management team updated with progress and activities, and provide guidance.
Hours - 6.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. Monday - Thursday / 6 a.m. - 12.00 noon Friday
The person
Essential
Previous electrical experience of working in the automotive industry
Good knowledge of Health and Safety practices, in particular Electrical Regulations
City and Guilds Level 3 qualification or ONC
Qualification in high voltage: IEE 18th or 17th Edition City and Guilds
Inspection testing and certification
PAT City and Guilds
Level 2 Numeracy qualification or equivalent
Level 2 Literacy qualification or equivalent
Mathematics - Ability to analyse and create schematics.
Computer literate: to include computer diagnostic skills
