Job Responsibilities
Ensure a maintenance service is supplied to the production department at all times whilst on shift
Maintain the standard of the machines to ensure the product produced is of the required quality, including involvement in the re-setting of popping machines when required.Work closely with staff in all departments within the factory
Ensure all machinery is maintained to a safe working condition.Involvement in mechanisation/improvement projects.
Responsibility to promote and contribute to the continuous improvement culture and make a positive contribution to the running of the business
Complete all required training in a timely manner, and participate fully in on and off site training
Main Duties
Health and Safety - ensure that safe and established working practises are followed at all times. Where there are H&S issues, these should be immediately reported to the Shift Manager, or be actioned
Food Safety - understanding of the HACCAP system operated within the Company and therefore understand the food safety risks and the controls in place to minimise these risks. The Maintenance Engineer has a responsibility to consider food safety issues when carrying out any work
Product Quality/Quality System - the quality system is governed by both the HACCAP process and quality control requirements. It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Engineer to ensure that the QC procedures designed and briefed by the Technical department are fully implemented within his/her remit. If this is not the case, they have responsibility to highlight this to the Maintenance/Shift Manager
Hygiene and Housekeeping - responsible for ensuring that the 'Clean as You Go' policy and GMP policy is observed at all times following any maintenance/repair work
Work Schedule - responsible for carrying out and recording PPM's, including resetting of popping machines, multi head weighers, and Sandiacre bagging machines, and reacting to breakdowns in a timely manner. This involves prioritising tasks and having a good understanding of product demand
Training - responsible for attending training as required
Operational Issues - responsibility to understand the manufacturing processes and systems throughout the factory in detail
Plant Performance - responsible for plant performance with regard to mechanical/electrical issues whilst on shift
Include competencies such as:
Good verbal and written communication, competent using a PC
Meeting attendance when required.
Briefings with Shift Managers and floor staff
Training instructions and training SOP's
Shift Handovers
Work closely with team members from within the maintenance department, and communicate with other members of the Company
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Experienced time served electrician/fitter with 17th Edition regs
Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
Proactive and flexible approach to work
Ability to work under pressure within tight time scales
Promote a positive culture within the business
Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing preferable
