Catering Assistants
North Yorkshire
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 skilled Catering Assistants to join an established team working in a private boarding school in York. The roles are temporary starting 1st September 2018 until December 2018 although for the right candidate there may be an opportunity to go permanent.
Key duties will include:
- To prepare the servery and dining room areas for mealtimes, ensuring that all areas are clean and tidy and that all equipment needed for the service of the meal planned is available
- To liaise with the kitchen to ensure that adequate supplies of all food being served are available throughout the service period
- To prepare food labels and menu cards and assist consumers by being able correctly to identify food being served and its key features; the principal ingredients in each dish and whether or not it is suitable for vegetarians
- To assist in the counter service of food during meal times, To ensure that food and equipment temperatures are logged as required
- To carry out routine cleaning tasks throughout the day
- To assist with clearing crockery, cutlery etc. from front of house areas to the washing up area after each meal time
- To assist with the clearing and cleaning of servery, front of house and dining room areas following each meal time ensuring that flooring tables and chairs are cleaned and cleared appropriately
- To assist the kitchen in the preparation and delivery of supplies to houses, common rooms and main school
Our successful candidates will be enthusiastic about providing a high level catering service and have a can do attitude. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene you will understand the demands of customer service and have a courteous manner at all times, utilising your excellent customer service skills. Working within an educational environment you will be aware of the importance of Child Protection and Safeguarding of young people, supporting the ethos of a full boarding school and boarding education and be able to exercise total discretion and uphold confidentiality.
You must have a Food Safety Level 2 and an Enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for one. The role will be working a shift pattern covering 5 days out of 7. These will be a mixture of 12.00-8.00pm and 07.15-2.45pm.
