- Description
The editors duties cover producing the editorial content of each issue of both publications which will involve:
- Writing quality news and relevant feature pages
- Liaising with freelance contributors to ensure copy is received and proofed in good time
- Sourcing relevant photographs and illustrations
- Subbing editorial copy/pics as required
- Proofing and correcting editorial pages based on the house style
- Liaising with the magazine Production Controller and Designer
- Commissioning relevant articles from industry professionals where necessary
- Producing editorial for the magazine websites, E-newsletters and social media platforms
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:The editor is also responsible for:
- Liaising with the Advertisement Manager and giving support, if requested, to help generate advertising revenue.
- Contact with specific key advertisers and writing advertorial features as and when required.
- Representing and promoting the interests of the magazines at key industry exhibitions, events etc.
- Where applicable - agreeing budgets with the publisher.
Supporting Notes:
The market is very much product-led and therefore the editorial and news tends to be product orientated. There are several trade shows throughout the year and this is where networking and contacts are made.
Part of a small team, this is a hands on role involving all aspects of editorial for x2 Bi-monthly titles.
Covers both print and digital platforms ( website, e-newsletters & social media - blog )
The position will ideally suit an experienced Business to Business journalist who would like the responsibility of running their own titles. First and foremost the position requires a good journalist who enjoys writing. In short, the candidate needs to be a good all rounder and a consummate communicator.
