Is driven and keen to progress their direct marketing career. Is not looking to "get into marketing", or looking for another "9 to 5" in a nice office.

Can articulate what they've learned and accomplished so far in their direct marketing career, and how their experience directly supports / exceeds the JD for this role.

Is confident and clear in talking through their experience, with specific campaign examples and results achieved.

Has 3-5 years of solid marketing experience, ideally with a year or two of sales experience before marketing in either telesales or face-to-face to support their ability to "sell" a concept, product or event, and convince a cold prospect to take action through compelling copywriting.

Can prove, by talking through their recent direct response campaigns, that they can write clear direct marketing plans, work to deadlines, measure results, write campaign reports, and interpret learnings from both success and failure.

Can prove that they can do all of this on multiple, concurrent campaigns, proving that they are creative, detail-orientated, results-focused and well-organised.

As we are a marketing team that are more like a "digital sales team" than "traditional or brand marketing" the candidate needs to prove:

They have a sales-oriented mindset, and understands how to use direct response marketing principles in email copy, landing pages and other campaign assets to convince the cold prospect or customer to take action.

Has a clear understanding of the term "direct response marketing", can explain this term confidently when asked, and can prove that their marketing experience is direct response based.
