Workshop Manager
Edinburgh EH21
Salary is negotiable depending on experience
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced workshop operative to work for our prestigious client based in Edinburgh EH21. The role will involve working closely with the site manager to ensure the smooth running of the site and the plant machines. As the role is extremely diverse in every aspect a number of different skills are required, including supervising staff, planning production, liaising with different departments and multi-tasking within a busy environment.
The hours of work are 7am - 5pm Monday to Friday, with overtime during the week and possibly Saturday mornings when business demands require. Having your own transport is essential due to location.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Manage maintenance and repairs in and out of the workshop;
- Undertake all levels of servicing, maintenance and repairs of trucks, vans and mobile plant;
- Capable of following the repair process from fault analysis to completion as well as supervising and guiding others;
- Liaise and report to site management;
- Manage small team of mechanics incl. safety, performance and conformance monitoring;
- Prioritise and delegate work within the team;
- Manage and control the stock of supplies and order;
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the site;
- Ensure paperwork is complete and accurate;
- Use variety of specialist equipment and tools;
- Liaise with site management with regards to required repairs and part ordering;
- Liaise with suppliers, source parts and compare prices;
- Administrative duties - internal defect systems, inspections, servicing, etc.;
- Attend training as and when required;
To be successful for this role you must have:
- Previous experience in working within this sector is desirable
- Ability to work as a part of a team or individually
- Possess genuine interest and passion for mechanics.
- Punctual, reliable with a strong work ethic
- Flexible, honest with good personality
- Full UK Driving Licence(desirable Class I and, or II);
- Good level of English
- Attention to detail
- Mobile Plant tickets are desirable (e.g. loading Shovel, FLT, MEWP, etc.)
Essential skills:
- Keen to learn new skills and willing to attend trainings;
- Proven mechanical experience and relevant skills - e.g. NVQs;
- High awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental;
- Computer literate, emails, MS Office incl. Excel, etc.;
- Managerial skills and, or experience;
