TM Resourcing (Technical & Engineering) are recruiting for a technician/engineer for a well-established company in Hitchin.
JOB SUMMARY
To proactively contribute to product and production process development projects whilst using expertise and experience to contribute to engineering, production support and project work as part of the Engineering Services team.
DIMENSIONS AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
No budgetary, recruitment, disciplinary authority
Authority within scope of technical expertise and with Technical Manager where appropriate
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities:
- Working with product development teams on proof of concept and prototyping for products and tooling and testing
- Managing and maintaining the company's audit test product program and conducting testing on new products to determine performance levels
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Providing capacity and planning capability for maintaining tools (power presses, custom build assembly machines etc.), production machines (elec/mech/pneu/hyd/PLC/CNC) and processes in support of the production process;
- Providing capacity and planning capability for building new tools and production equipment to maintain and or enhance production processes;
- Assisting with the resolution of engineering problems identified through production processes utilising problem solving skills;
- Constantly available to assist with Production improvements through maintenance, repair, working practices, information and effective equipment utilisation;
- Take responsibility to ensure technical safety within scope of expertise and ensure that work is conducted in a safe environment according to safe practices;
- Undertake other work as requested in the engineering services team within limits of capability
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Training & Education
- City & Guilds qualification in engineering
- H&S training
Experience
- Time served as an engineer in a position of technical responsibility.
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience with a wide range of skills including welding
Skills & Knowledge
- Broad range of tool room and engineering skills at practical and theoretical level
- Press and press tool knowledge
- Reading engineering drawings and programming of CNC turning centres and machining centres accordingly
- Organisational skills.
- Numeracy skills.
- IT proficiency (databases, Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Good analytical skills and ability to interpret statistics.
- Problem solving ability.
- Good understanding of product testing standards and the requirements of audit testing programs
- Welding
- Fault finding and design and build of any or all of:
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- PLC control systems
