Summary of Role
- To develop software in line with the requirements of the business and as determined the Software Development Manager
- To support existing systems as part of the development team

- Strong, confident communicator (both written and oral)

- Strong work ethic able to work on own initiative
- Open and honest person, comfortable working as part of a team and contributing confidently to discussions relating to tasks and projects
- Good listening and problem solving skills - a logical thinker with the ability to communicate technical issues at all levels
- Able to take on challenges and see solutions through to conclusion
- Excellent technical capability across a range of technologies focusing on agile development in a predominantly Linux environment
- Proven experience resulting in successful delivery of key projects
- Able to look objectively at at areas of improvement, streamlining systems/services or seeing opportunities to help the business develop further
Aims of Role
- Support the Software Development department in the daily maintenance of existing software services, solutions and applications
- Undertake software development duties as determined by your line manager, keeping him appraised of progress or issues
- Be responsible for the development of key projects or designated areas of a particular project, ensuring your work is of a high standard to fulfil requirements and contribute effectively to the projects' success
- Share relevant information with colleagues (and document your work where appropriate), ensuring they are able to follow and complete work undertake should circumstances require it
Experience
- 3+ years general software development experience
- 3+ years experience using different DB platforms (including MySQL, SQLite, MS SQL)
Desirable
- Knowledge of Cloud Services (we use AWS)
- General knowledge of languages and platforms such as PERL, Apache, HTML, XML, Javascript, C# and C++
- Experience of working in a Linux environment (Debian, Ubuntu Distribution)
