Description

The vision of this role is to increase revenue and maximise sales opportunity, through strong leadership of the sales team, knowledge of the business, competitors and product knowledge

Job Purpose:

The Sales Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of sales activities; achieving growth and hitting sales targets through successful management and development of the sales team.

Working closely with directors, MD and the management team, this role requires a systematic proactive approach in planning for sales growth, ensuring sales are maximised at customer events and training and mentoring the team to produce outstanding sales results

Key result areas

Assist MD and co-founder on sales and business vision, strategies and innovation

Set sales plan, targets and growth in line with business plan and vision

Identify and implement sales strategies to improve quality of service, productivity and profitability

Achieve growth and hit/ exceed sales targets by successfully managing and growing the sales team, setting individual and team targets, training and mentoring, competitions, improving call rate and quality and social media management

Develop, train and mentor, instil excitement and encourage competitiveness within the sales team

Reduce refund rate down to targeted percentage

Report monthly on all feedback internally and customer facing, suggesting improvements to products, services and business

Responsibilities (sales)

Contribute to and implement sales strategies, working closely with the Managing Director

Set, administer and maintain all sales activity in line with business objectives and targets

Set and communicate sales and customer service KPI's and targets to the team and monitor individual performance

Report performance against sales targets to MD and directors

Report sales activity at management team meetings

Work with sales team on approaches to increasing revenue, maintaining customer service and building internal and external relationships

Distribute workload fairly and equitably; ensuring the sales team update the CRM effectively with all appropriate data

Increase call volume and quality of customer service given, monitor quality of sales ensuring sales opportunities are maximised

Set and monitor sales commissions, ensuring accuracy in claims

Encourage cohesiveness in the team and actively manage underperforming members of the sales team

Build and maintain inter- departmental relationships with team managers; liaise with marketing manager to establish leads and results from marketing activity; liaise with Head of events, to consolidate sales activity at events; liaise with finance for refunds and other financial information, liaise with Business Analyst to develop solid reporting structures.

Maintain commercial awareness within the business, monitor and report on competitive activity and products

Attend various sales events, evening and weekends, to learn and grow sales performance.

Ensure the sales team are performing professionally and maximising each sale potential. Ensure client requirements are met/ enhanced and drive the team to increase per head revenue. Give constructive feedback to the sales team to ensure continual improvement

Responsibilities (Management)

  • Day to day management of the sales ; hold individual and team performance reviews, through one to ones, annual appraisals and weekly sales meetings, to ensure KPIs are achieved.Recruitment and on-boarding of sales and staff; 12 weekly meetings with new starters to ensure their effectiveness
  • Train, coach and mentor the sales team on sales techniques and overall business objectives, both real time and pre planned
  • Hold daily team talks (huddles), weekly product and service training meetings and ad-hoc briefings
