Job Purpose:

You will play an instrumental role in the Design & Digital team working to code and test front-end interfaces, predominantly for websites and web apps.

Key result areas

• Responsibility for front-end development utilising hand coded HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript/jQuery
• Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI / UX designs
• Contributing to the Design Systems and Pattern Libraries with best practice reusable code
• Working closely with the other teams to ensure all work is completed to the highest standard
• Ensure continual development of FED skills and knowledge of current technologies
• Maintain a thorough and clear understanding of Progressive Property and how the Design & Digital team fits into all business objectives

The Role

This role needs flexibility. Depending on the project or task in hand, skill areas can vary, and tools and techniques may need to be adapted to suit client needs. From time-to-time a Front End Developer may need to work hours that aren't typical to ensure deadlines are met.

• Attend Design & Digital meetings and share ideas with the team
• Produce on-brand interfaces
• Communicate with senior team members and clients to discuss projects and design ideas, receive feedback and maintain improvements
• Liaise effectively with back-end developers, creatives and non-technical team members

Skills

Good knowledge of the following Front End skills are required:

• HTML/CSS/SCSS
• JavaScript/jQuery/JS Frameworks
• WordPress PHP
• Bootstrap
• Responsive Web Development
• Version Control (GIT)
• Testing/Debugging
• An interest in Usability and Interaction Design
• Good organisational skills that support the rest of the team
• The motivation to maintain and drive improvement in the Progressive FED standards
• The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve

About You

You have commercial experience as a JavaScript developer alongside HTML/CSS. You will have a true passion for technology and interest in interaction design and usability. You make it your business to stay tuned into the latest industry trends and best practices to stay ahead of the completion. Exposure to contemporary design & development methodologies such as User Centred Design, Agile or similar would be an advantage.
