TM Scotland are proud and excited to be recruti8ng on behalf of our esteemed client for a Hygiene Manager to join their established team, reporting to the Packing Manager.
Job Summary
Responsible for managing a team whose main focus is to improve and then maintain the hygiene standards within the Packing Station. Ensuring the production area and all peripheral areas of the factory are cleaned to an exceptionally high standard. Educating the team regarding cleaning procedures and standards. Ensuring all food health and safety regulations, customer and accreditation standards are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Hygiene team maintains the cleanliness in the Packing Station in ways that meet the relevant company, customer, health & safety, environmental and hygiene standards at all times.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are carried out in accordance with the company’s Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs)
- Monitor team members output and quality of work to ensure hygiene standards are of acceptable; levels, within defined timescales
- Monitor hygiene standards and take effective action in response to out of specification swab results and maintenance operating problems
- Ensure the CICs are relevant and reviewed at defined frequencies in conjunction with the Quality Manager
- Ensure adequate stock of chemicals, cleaning equipment and PPE are available for your hygiene team
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are performing
- Maintain training records, ensuring all hygiene staff are signed off against the most up to date CIC version
- Arrange chemical awareness training in conjunction with the chemical provider
- Ensure your team have adequate knowledge and training in Food Safety and Hygiene
- Train the hygiene team to ensure operating in ways, which are safe, hygienic and conducive to good working practice.
- Conduct inductions, training, return to work, disciplinary and annual performance reviews with your team.
- Ensure that no unnecessary waste is incurred and dispose of surplus consumables, waste, scrap and non-standard products correctly
- Set up and maintain all equipment according to requirements.
- Make equipment ready for future use after the completion of the process, cleaning plant, equipment and work areas using appropriate materials and equipment
- Contribute and lead positively to continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain effective communication, where appropriate organise staff breaks and cleaning, ensuring sufficient cover to maintain operations. Reporting or inform both your team and managers relevant information that is required to carry out tasks.
- Maintain equipment within the bounds of your responsibility and report defects to Packing Station Manager or engineer which need specialised maintenance.
- Complete all hygiene schedules and computerised records accurately and timely reviewing these schedules, and recommending improvements to the Quality Manager as necessary
- Ensure that your team adopts and demonstrates 'clean as you go’.
- Review and improve hygiene best practice on site.
- Carry out other reasonable duties within the context of the company’s specific needs.
THE CANDIDATE
- You will be an experienced Hygiene Manager or Supervisor, preferably from a food manufacturing background, and will be hold Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification.
- An accomplished leader, you will be able to work autonomously, have a hands on approach and will be comfortable working as part of a small team.
- COSHH knowledge would be desirable.
