- Description
- To assist in the provision of a comprehensive and cost-effective catering service that meets the needs of patients, staff and visitors and fulfils the objectives of the Trust. You will be expected to work as part of the catering team working in any area of the catering department based on service needs.
- Collation of patient menu information
- Responsible for preparation, plating and presentation of patient meals at ward level
- Basic preparation of ingredients, salads, sandwiches, hot snacks, gravies, custard in a food safe manner
- Ward based processing of patient crockery, cutlery and food service utensils through mechanised dish wash machine
- Reconciling patient meal deliveries against meals ordered and inform the catering help desk of any shortages/inaccuracies
- Ensuring economical use of food/ingredients and minimisation of waste
- Meeting food service time-scale
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in designated work areas within documented cleaning schedules, as well as ad hoc cleaning duties
- Ensure high standards of food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (H.A.C.C.P) are achieved and maintained
- To work safely in accordance with Trust Health & Safety Policies
- Ensure accurate and complete records of core food temperatures, refrigerator temperatures and cleaning schedules are kept
- Competent in the completion of basic departmental forms and other relevant Trust documents
- Work towards the objectives agreed in the Annual Personal Development Review process
- Contribute to service improvement by evaluating own work and that of the team and making changes where appropriate
- Demonstrate commitment to Improving Working Lives principles and flexible work patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff
- Tackle discrimination and harassment, and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff
- Competent in understanding and working within the remit of the Trust’s confidentiality policy
- Take responsibility for personal development and education and maintenance of a personal development plan
Retail/Kitchen Areas
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in designated work areas within documented cleaning schedules, as well as ad hoc duties as requested by your duty supervisor
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene, kitchen and personal
• Utensil and crockery processing duties using mechanical dishwasher
• Operation of heavy duty floor cleaning equipment
• Basic preparation and cooking of food items hot sandwiches, hot snacks, chips etc in a food safe manner
• Recording of food temperatures
• Recording fridge/freezer temperatures
• Monitoring fridges/chilled units and ensuring food are within use by date
• Reporting faults, accidents and adverse incidents
